Finding Your Ideal Men's Grooming Ritual
Do you know the feeling when you emerge from the chair at your favorite barbershop? Well-groomed, confident, and ready to take on the world, right? Between appointments at the barbershop, maintaining your skin and facial hair may be a bit more difficult. But, it doesn’t have to be.
The good news is that you don’t have to shell out a fortune on a ten-step self-care routine or spend hours in the mirror. You should, however, develop a daily routine that is quick, simple, and makes you feel good. Not sure where to begin? We’ve got you.
Read on to find out the perfect grooming ritual for your skin type.
Determining Your Skin Type
Understanding your skin type is essential to achieving healthy skin and deciding which products will work best for your skin. Once you know what skin type you have, you will be able to create your daily skincare routine.
Normal: Lucky you! This is skin that is well-balanced and neither dry nor oily. Skin feels soft and large pores shouldn’t be visible.
Oily: Skin will look and feel greasy, which can lead to breakouts and may cause acne. Pores will be visible on the skin.
Dry: Skin may be tight, and you may experience flaking of the skin. Skin texture may also feel rough and scaly. It can feel itchy, irritated, and look dull due to a lack of hydration.
Combination: Skin will have areas that are both dry and oily. It will tend to be drier around the cheeks and chin, but oily around the forehead and nose.
Sensitive: This shows up on the skin as areas of redness or dryness. It can become uncomfortable with skin feeling itchy, tight, and dry.
The Basics
One of the advantages of having a grooming routine at home is that you can customize it to your liking. Need to be out the door in 5 minutes? Keep it simple. Like to indulge in self-care? Add a few products to round out your routine.
Every good grooming routine starts with a cleanser, a shaving product, an exfoliant, and a moisturizer. If you are sporting facial hair, you should add products to care for your facial hair, such as beard oil. For extra credit, you may add treatment products, such as serums (like our Algae Serums), or products that target specific areas, such as eye creams.
