History and BackgroundCopaiba Balsam essential oil is native to the Amazon rain forest and has been used by the people of the Amazon for hundreds of years to treat a variety of ailments, such as, cooling inflammation, skin disorders, wounds, pain relief. The oil was introduced to Europe by the Jesuits in the 1600's and was known as Jesuit's Balm. This oil is relatively new to Western aromatherapy but has been widely researched.
